About this show:
philly jazz

In the town that brought you cheesesteaks, democracy, and the
iconography of the underdog, Americas only indigenous art form jazz went to school and then put on a suit, and is still carving on desks, piling up wood in the shed, and getting out there in clubs, bars, salons and large venues throughout the city and the world.

This series chronicles the inner and outer workings of jazz in Philadelphia and the Delware Valley, with many of the area's world reknowned musicians contributing their ideas, philosophies, and of course music. The films include informal interviews, rehearsals, performances, and studio sessions, revealing the history of the scene and its current direction.

The series will culminate in a feature length documentary, and viewers are strongly encouraged to help shape the final cut of the film with their comments and questions. The production team is seeking sponsors, please contact jason@slifepros.com for more info.  Philly Jazz is a member of the non-profit Jazz Bridge advisory board - please support our local musicians and check out http://www.jazzbridge.org
